With many couples opting to host their reception in these beauties, we turned to the experts for a little need-to-know advice. Based in Queensland’s stunning North Stradbroke Island, Straddie Tipis shared their top three tips with us, plus a super-dreamy styled shoot!

What’s the very first thing couples should think of when it comes to planning a tipi wedding?
“Definitely how to create the right atmosphere for you. Your wedding can be anything from an intimate soiree to an extravagant event, with tipis suiting a range of different styles. Think about exactly what feel and look you want, lock it in and go from there.”

What sort of locations work well for a tipi wedding?
“The beauty with tipis is that they’re very versatile! From the beach and headland locations to garden settings and even backyards, tipis will work well – just make sure you have a relatively flat area (a slight slope is okay).”

Is there a particular season that couples should consider if going with a tipi for their reception?
“Tipis aren’t just for summer! You can have all sides of the tipi open to have a 360-degree outlook or you can have all sides down with a fire-pit in the middle for those cold winter months. It’s up to you!”
