ALEXANDRIA – THE DRESS (designer note below)
“This masterpiece has been a piece of bridal art, evolving over a period of six months. The conceptual design had far fewer hours required than the 200+ hours of hand sewing alone, that the end piece required. She was inspired by some of the designs I had been working on for clients at the time, but mainly the heavily beaded lace and the model, who’s figure shape it was designed to. It is really important to me that the cut and design, suit the figure shape of the client wearing the garment. Also, one of my Brides Salma, who is Egyptian, used the heavily beaded lace first on her wedding dress and as I started to position the lace on this dress, to suit the model, I was drawn to the Egyptian landscape of Salma’s heritage too and it all went from there. ALEXANDRIA was then born.”
