This couple’s love story began with a chance encounter on Facebook (as many do), when Maurice noticed Amanda in photos with a mutual friend. Taking the leap and messaging her led to an undeniable connection and, eventually, the two fell for each other. “We are best friends and soul mates,” says Amanda. So sweet!
After becoming engaged on a romantic getaway in the Margaret River, the two put together one seriously lovely celebration at Brisbane’s Landing at Dockside. Saying “I do” by the water and before loved ones, the newlyweds then escaped to a rooftop carpark in the Fortitude Valley for photos and Champagne. “It was beautiful up there as the sun set and we had so much fun with our favourite people,” says Amanda.
Returning to their venue for a fun-filled reception, Amanda and Maurice focused the festivities on their favourite things: friends, family, great food and killer tunes. “Instead of table numbers we had ‘sexy soulful seating’, with each table labelled a R&B song name,” explains Amanda. “When the table’s song was played that table was encouraged to get up and dance. We didn’t know how this would go down but everyone loved it!” We love it too, Amanda!
The dancing continued long into the night, with the groom and his family also getting involved with the entertainment. “Family from Maurice’s side performed a traditional Niuean song and it was so special,” says Amanda. “His teenage cousins also performed ‘You Look Wonderful Tonight’ and ‘Moondance’ which was a highlight. Maurice also surprised myself and our guests with a Magic Mike-style dance to ginuwine’s ‘Pony’ as he removed my garter! I was very impressed, he pulled out some serious moves.”
A truly beautiful wedding brimming with love and good vibes, Amanda and Maurice’s special day was everything the couple had hoped for. “Our wedding day was so us,” says Amanda. “We wanted a day surrounded by family and friends, with plenty of dancing and a big party atmosphere, and that’s exactly what we got!”
