Wedding date: 17 October 2020 // Number of guests: 80
After navigating through the ups and downs of COVID-restrictions, and planning not one but two weddings in the space of 12 months, Bree and Nathan were so blessed to enjoy a heavenly and completely unrestricted wedding (including a full dance floor!) in the hills of the Sunshine Coast with their nearest and dearest.
QB: All good love stories start somewhere; tell us how and when you met …
We met through mutual friends at the local footy club.
QB: Tell us about your lives together …
We have a 3 year old French bulldog called Winston, he is super lazy but loves the beach. We enjoy spending time with our family and friends and love to go on holidays. We both work full time and are busy saving for our first home.
QB: What does marriage mean to you?
Respecting one another, loving each other through the good times and the bad and appreciating the little things.
QB: Make us laugh, make us cry: who proposed to who, and how?
Nathan proposed to me in November 2018 in Bali: he organised a private villa with “will you marry me” in rose petals from the entry to the bedroom. It was such a surprise!
QB: How and why did you choose your venues?
We were set to be married in Bali in October 2020 but COVID-19 hit the world – and all our plans changed! We had to reorganise a whole new wedding to now happen in Australia. We got busy looking for venues with available dates which actually (because of the upheaval that COVID-19 wreaked upon other couple’s plans) turned out to not be as hard as we thought it would. We came across Maleny Manor and booked their first available date. It was a bit nerve-wreaking as restrictions were still updating (and could change at any time) which could mean that our plans would be affected once again. Fortunately for us, we married on the 17th of October, exactly one week after we were supposed to have been married in Bali.
QB: What was the inspiration behind your wedding style?
I spent a lot of time picturing different styles in my head – and I changed my mind a lot as I was always busy focusing on the little details. We went with whites, pinks and kept it pretty simple but elegant. I loved the style we went with. I also took a lot of inspiration from Pinterest.
QB: Did you incorporate any traditions or perhaps do something a little different?
We decided to do our first dance prior to entering our reception. All our guests sat on a hill with sparklers and watched from a far whilst we danced at sunset by the lake, accompanied by the most beautiful lit-up pyros.
QB: Were there any standout suppliers?
The venue staff and my provided wedding planner were absolutely incredible – so accommodating, supportive and helpful through the whole experience. My photographer, Danielle Webster, was also super amazing to work with. She was on hand to help me when I needed support and went the extra mile to achieve and turn my visions into reality. The photos are simply stunning.
QB: Do you have any words of wisdom to offer other couples?
Take it all in: the day goes super quick and you’ll wish to do the whole thing 100 times over.
QB: Did you (or will you) enjoy a honeymoon? If so, how and why did you choose your destination?
My parents surprised us with a holiday to The Whitsundays, which my dad told us during his wedding speech. We had the best time and it was exactly what we needed after a busy year of planning 2 weddings! We were once again blessed with easing restrictions and able to enjoy our holiday completely.
