‘This one time at band camp…’– that’s how Daniella and Andrew’s love story actually began. Catching each others’ eye at the tender age of 15, these two sweethearts met while on a music-filled escape. “Andrew was a drummer and I played the clarinet,” remembers Daniella. “We used to lock eyes with each other from across the room and have little conversations between songs. Eventually, we went from sharing our first kiss on the bus en route to a performance to dating. We haven’t left each other’s side since.” Cue the ‘awwwww’s.
Building a life together and travelling the world, the couple were in Japan some years later when Andrew planned a fabulous surprise. “We were canoeing along a canal lined with cherry blossom trees when he rowed us under a quiet tree and asked me to marry him,” says Daniella. “Thank heavens I didn’t jump with excitement! I would’ve tipped us both overboard!” Well, it’d certainly be a memorable story for the grandkids.
Continuing their travels for another year and spending another planning their dream wedding, the two tied the knot at the elegant Jimbour Homestead on March 3rd, 2018. Exchanging self-written vows before 90 loved ones and a giant Moreton Bay Fig tree, Daniella and Andrew were treated to an utterly gorgeous setting for their ceremony. “It’s such an overwhelming feeling when you walk into the gardens of Jimbour Homestead,” says Daniella. “It’s like a little oasis nestled into Australia’s vast, open countryside.”
After saying “I do” and being showered with lavender petals (symbolising love, devotion and loyalty), Daniella and Andrew toasted the occasion in the venue’s impressive hangar. “We kept our styling simple with rustic touches and plenty of flowers to complement our beautiful surroundings,” says Daniella.
Enjoying delicious fare and hitting the dance-floor, the newlyweds payed homage to their first encounter when Andrew swapped places with their band’s drummer for a song. “It was like our relationship had come full circle,” laughs Daniella. “I felt like we were taken back in time; like I was 16-year-old Daniella dancing in front of my crush. Everyone loved it!”
Later cutting into a scrumptious three-tier cake, Daniella and Andrew’s emotions were high as they got up to make their speech. “I remember scanning the room filled with our closest family and friends, and feeling a sense of warmth rush over me,” says Daniella. “All of us were there in that moment to celebrate love, happiness and our life together. It was so, so special.” What more can you ask for?
