We love a good furniture window-shop as much as the next girl, but if you asked us to style a wedding with gorgeous (yet still functional) pieces we’d probably end up racing around like The Block contestants, messy mood-board in hand, trying to put something together at the last-minute.
Luckily, there are clever people out there who embrace these challenges and simply own them. Some call them event stylists, we call them crazy-fabulous humans. A collector of antique pieces and sweet little knickknacks, Tricia Tirado is one such talent who knows just how to conceive, source and style special pieces to make a wedding a next-level event. We caught up with this talented woman to talk weddings and her wonderful styling and event hire business, A Little Bliss Events…
What’s the biggest challenge in styling a wedding?
“Definitely budgeting. I think most couples underestimate the cost of styling and the effort that’s involved.”
What’s your favourite thing to have at weddings that you recommend to all your brides?
“A lounge area is essential to having a relaxed and free-flowing wedding. It really draws people from their tables at the reception and encourages them to sit and chat with each other. We often find reception chairs dragged to the lounge area by guests who are wanting to all hang out together.”
What do you think will be the next big thing in Queensland weddings in 2018?
“I think 2018 will see more outside/inside weddings. By that, I mean couples are cautious of outdoor celebrations due to the weather and will instead opt for decorating a reception with loads of greenery that bring the outdoors in.”
Tell us a little bit about A Little Bliss Events. Which areas do you cover?
“We cover the Gold and Sunshine Coasts, Brisbane, Byron Bay and Toowoomba. One of my favourite regions would have to be the Gold Coast Hinterland because there are so many amazing private properties and venues there!”
How do brides usually come to involve A Little Bliss Events in their special day?
“I always suggest that brides have a good look at the hire shop on my website – that way they can shop in their PJs with a glass of wine! I have everything priced on my site so there are no surprises and brides can pick out what they like within their budget before meeting with me.”
What does your consultation process involve?
“I conduct all my client consultations at my showroom – it’s filled with so much gorgeousness, which makes it very easy for couples to envision what their day will look like. I sit down with them and try to work out what it is they’re looking for, taking into account their budget and ideas to make their wedding day magical.”
What’s next for you and A Little Bliss Events?
“I’m excited to style my first same-sex wedding. The change is long overdue and it’d be so amazing to be involved in the joining of two people who have waited to be able to marry the love of their lives, and to have it recognised as it should be.”
